Prior to the 2004-05 College Basketball Season, Street & Smith released a special issue featuring the top basketball programs of all time. The University of Kentucky earned the #1 spot.

The Top Five are

1. University of Kentucky, 2025 Points
2. UCLA, 1711 Points
3. University of North Carolina, 1602 Points
4. Kansas University, 1529 Points
5. Duke University, 1428 Points

Street & Smith based their rankings upon 14 factors, and the Cats won this objective comparison by a substantial amount, as shown by the total scores above.
