Beard, Groza, and Wah Wah Jones were seniors and all three were All Americans this season. For the second straight year, Groza was NCAA tournie MVP. Oklahoma A@M coach Hank Iba had said his center (Bob Harris) was the best defensive center in the nation. However in the championship game of the NCAA, with Jones driving to the basket to bring Harris to him, then passing to Groza breaking for the basket, Groza scored 25 in the UK victory.
