The highlight of this season was an NCAA snub because Rupp refused a "play in game" with NC State. Rupp's reasoning was UK was the defending champ, had a better record than State, had defeated Bradley (ranked #1 in the nation at the time). and had beaten Villanova on a neutral court. Villanova had beaten State at State. Many thought Rupp was bluffing the NCAA and they had called his bluff.
