Rupp retired the jersey of Mickey Rouse. This was the first jersey retired, though 15 years later #10 came back into use by Gerry Calvert. There was talk of this team being in the NCAA tournie, but due to flu problems, AD Bernie Shively announced "Kentucky will not compete...".
