SEC Champions,National Champions (Coach Rupp's First NCAA Championship), and Olympic Champions

This group won the NCAA tournie and the starting five played on the winning USA Olympic team. Ralph Beard and Alex Groza (3 time AA and brother of Lou Groza NFL star) were on this team. This is for Katman, during the Olympic trials, this team pounded UL 91-57. UK lost in the finals of the Olympic trials to the pro quality Bartlesville Oilers 53-49. Oiler coach Bud Browning said, "UK is the best team we've played all year.....Beard is absolutely the best I ever saw."
