Several weeks before practice was to start, the players rebeled over conditioning. One afternoon, they refused to run. Rupp told Dan Issel if you run, I'll do everything in my power to make you the highest scoring player in UK history. Issel ran with the freshman team and the next day, everyone ran. The rest is history. Issel made All America again. Mike Casey had to sit out the season because of an auto accident.
