To Summarize by the data:

1960-2006--title teams, all games---82.8 ppg
1960-1976--title teams, all games---80.5 ppg
1977-1985--title teams, all games---73.5 ppg [72.1 ppg without the Joe B. Hall led 1978 UK team]
1986-2006--title teams, all games---84.5 ppg

In NCAA title games only; the Champions have also averaged nearly 80 ppg against the best of the best for that particular year.

1960 thru 2006-----77.5 ppg
1960 thru 1976-----79.7 ppg
1977 thru 1985-----69.4 ppg [ 66.4 ppg without the Joe B. Hall led 1978 UK team]
1986 thru 2006-----79.4 ppg

During the slow ball era of 1977 thru 1985, 9 seasons---only UK in 1978(84.2ppg) scored at a rate over 77ppg for the respective title season. That was the era of slow ball, freeze ball--and pathetic ball. The present UK system was designed during this era of non-offensive basketball---and tubbI is attached more tightly to the system, than the tubbites and tubblings are to tubbI.

Less than 78ppg does NOT a title champ make. UK at 73.9, 73.6 and 70.9 these last 3 seasons is NOT a contender---and never will be using the slow ball system from the slow ball era.

During each of these three eras, the number of losses by a championship team rose during the slow ball era and fell again after the shot clock and easy three entered the game.
