Here is your statement at Tubby Smith's press conference prior to the North Carolina game.

On the magnitude of this game…Tubby Smith
“Everything we do is a test. We've failed two tests so far this season. When you don't win it's a failure. There is a way to measure, when you look at it and say well you did this better and you did that better. The bottom line is did you win? When you don't win, that means you failed. It's as simple as that. This is kind of a pass-fail course right here. Did you play well enough to win?”

This statement has been reported by the UKAA at the official University of Kentucky website.

Following the loss to North Carolina, Tubby Smith reinforced his position that coming close is not sufficient, and that winning is what matters when he spoke to Jonathan Smith of the Kentucky Kernel, as reported on December 4, 2006.

We're just not executing like we should. Granted, we played some good opponents in UCLA, Memphis and North Carolina, but we've got to win those games. We have to find a way to win those games, and we have to find a way to take care of the basketball.

Thank you Tubby for verifying for UK fans worldwide that you believe that winning and losing are the important standards. Then why did you play the game against North Carolina on December 2, 2006 not to win, but to keep the margin of loss within reasonable bounds.
